Remember Lucy? The goose that got kid goose-napped back just before Thanksgiving but made her long and laborious way home by Christmas? http://possumlane.blogspot.com/2008/12/lucy-christmas-goose.html Remember she can’t fly, so she had to walk from wherever they took her, and it took about a month? Well, in the past, Lucy has had a few short term relationships with ganders that quit on her as soon as they found she could not fly. The relationships did not last long enough to get to the egg laying stage. Well, this year all that changed. At first it was joked that Lucy had a suitor, but no one thought it would last once he figured out she was not, well, quite the same as the other girls. She could not go thru the usual courtship “dance” – her neck did not straighten out, she could not fly, she was very shy around other geese – but, she did seem to have a magic way of getting corn to appear – musta been that disability check or maybe food stamps…
Anyway, the gander who we will call Lucky (as in Lucy got Lucky?) took a shine to our little girl and it seemed like some nesting was going on out back. Lucky had been getting rather protective of Lucy, but he cranked it up a notch or two, making travel thru the yard a bit hazardous!
About a week ago, the humans who have been caring for Lucy, discovered 2 eggs… then 3! As you can see, the final number seems to be five. If it seems strange that I do not mention the human’s by name or the place of business, it is for Lucy’s protection, though I would sure not want to try to get past Lucky to do any harm to Lucy or even think of a goosey omelet! Anyway, bowing to pressure from the blogging community, the humans went out toward the nest, camera in hand, one to run interference, one to snap pictures and run. So, here we are… 2 brave people, 2 brave geese, 5 precious eggs. I can’t wait for the baby pictures!

well this makes for a much more exciting and interesting read, than the crap about Octo-mom---(have decided to add your blog to my blog role----us Jo stafford afficionados need to stick together.) lol
I'm glad you had someone run interference. I've had one of those Canadian Goose nips and it's no fun.
I will be very interested in seeing the babies.
I had a brief budding romance years ago with a young woman confined to a wheel chair. I gave up on her in the end. Now your story makes this old gander a little ashamed of himself.
Wonderful... so Goosey Lucy is going to be a mama!
