Not having similar problems myself, but also not using the blogger editor to upload text and photos. Recently downloaded Microsoft LiveWriter (free) and have been using it exclusively with some minor annoyances, but not uploading times.
Live writer seems to handle pictures uploaded to it quick, BUT uploading your entry to Blogger can take some time, especially if there are a lot of pictures. Mine was really slow this morning with all the pics. This could be a Blogger problem and not ours
My latest blog picture went in fast but the one before that took forever. Go figure....
