I would say this is a slight exaggeration, but there is a lot of truth in it. In one’s need to be “right” someone else must be wrong.

Yes though I think extreme nationalism is currently the worst. Religion can be but many aren't.

Sometimes, yes; sometimes, no. Maybe you didn't really mean to propose a complete dichotomy, but I couldn't tell from the sentence alone.
