DUSTY GOT A JOB!

DSC_0754 DSC_0765Well, I am glad to report that brotherDSC_0780 Dusty got a job and it is a perfect fit for him. Being a house kitty is wonderful for Rusty,  but not so great for Dusty. Having to wash the bathroom rug on a daily basis was getting old, if you know what I mean, and then he decided to see how absorbent the big Karastan was… and that is not something that can be tossed in the washer. So… we needed to find a new home for him. It was a shame because he is a very lovable cat… BUT… Anyway, he has the perfect home, and job… he is a barn kitty a few miles from here. High class horses, too, so the stable is air conditioned – great for these 90+ days. And, to replace his brother, he has a little boy who loves him to pieces. Best of all, he can pee anyplace he wants and no body will even notice! YEA! Here, we noticed.

So we are back to just Rusty inside and Spook outside… and to be honest, that is enough. The clerk at Wal-Mart asked me if something had happened, then apologized as she realized she might have spoken out of place. But I have gone from buying food for 6 cats to buying for only 2. The stacks of cat food I used to buy – well, it is down to only one box a week.

Best wishes to Dusty and his new family, 2 and 4 legged!

Yeah...he's a pretty smart cat ! He knew if he peed long enough and in the wrong places you'd get him out of the house. What a purrfect job for him!
As to the fox in your last entry I would never have seen him if you hadn't described where he was. My kids in NY had a family of foxes that played in the snow and they loved watching them.

"and Spook outside." Reminds me of my dog, Spookie, that was given to me as a child. I had no idea what the word connoted to others and am -- what, bemused, chagrined, embarrassed? Not sure -- when I recall the many times I went outside to call him home. "Spookie, Spookie," I'd yell at the top of my lungs. I lived at the time in a heavily integrated neighborhood, just outside of Newark, NJ. Fortunately my neighbors were all kindly souls.

Spook and Punkin showed up during Hurricane Isabel and never left. It became obvious, as we were going into the Halloween season which starts around here, commercially speaking, as soon as the Back to School sales finish, that they were just going to stick around. Punkin was orange, of course, and Spook was, and still is spooked by everyone and everything. So, the name fit his temperament, which has not changed, by the way, and the holiday. It took 4 months to catch him and get his shots and a bit of surgery. Punkin, on the other hand, could not be held and loved enough.
Fortunately, I live in the boondocks and no one cares what I call him. He thinks it means food, so he is good with it.
