THE JOY OF THE SPRING GARDEN

One of the things I love the most about living here is the quantity of flowers – sometimes year round,DSC_0459_01 like the fresh picked camellias we have on the Christmas table – this year we had Aunt Alice in bloom for Christmas! The pink is Debutante and variegated is Peppermint. OK, so they don’t look so great with the pink of the poinsettia, but I guess it proves the season!

Here are some shots of the garden today – or I should say, the some of the bigger plants… the ground level has lots of different color violets, a few hundred Lily of the Valley scattered about, and even many of the weeds have sweet little flowers on them. I just had to include Red Emperor flowers that blew off in one of our wind storms and landed on the mossy ground. I thought it looked so cool… too pretty to walk on… I had to step over them.

Pink Perfection is still in bloom!

And now the azaleas… First, the Meditation Gardens: The old and now the azaleas are old enough to start blooming in the New Meditation Garden:

Moving to the back yard:

DSCN1374DSC_0588_01  DSCN1412 This last one was badly damaged by that surprise 29 degree blast a few weeks ago. Fortunately, some buds had not opened. This bush is over my head.

Thanks for taking this little stroll thru my garden. it has been a lot of work, but oh what a joy to see. Azaleas in every direction. I am so happy the newest azaleas are starting to bloom… I only wish the deer hadn’t eaten so many of them almost down to the ground. My yard, especially the Meditation Garden, is open to a number of people, but not the public as such. I often see a car parked in my turnaround space and see someone sitting on the Buddha Bench in the new Meditation garden. That makes it all worthwhile.
And sorry for the lousy layout - Blogger screws up yet again!

That pink rose is as beautiful as it gets. You’re all the way over on the opposite coast from me, and I’m surprised that the season looks so young compared to what it is here because I would have thought it would be roughly the same. Here, it’s summer.

Hey Snowy! Good to hear from you!
Actually, this blog post was done around the first of May, maybe in April but blogger kept screwing up the pictures or not even putting them on at all - so I gave up and left it alone for well over a month now... just have been extremely busy and coping with a lot of pain. You know that drill...
It is now summer here, too. But to be honest, when I hit publish this last time, I did not expect it to work! But, it sort of did. Oh well.

Hi Possum. I'm glad you mentioned in your answer to Snowbrush that your post was written back in May ... I was getting confused since I live pretty near you and our azaleas blossomed weeks ago and are back to being just green bushes now. Your pictures bring back pleasant memories for me !

“when I hit publish this last time, I did not expect it to work!”

Ha, you could sure get in trouble doing that, as in, “I think I’ll tell all of my idiot readers what I really think of them, since I know the publish button won’t work anyway.”

Even if the photos were taken in May and not June, it was still nice to see your beautiful garden views, Possum. And, yes, Blogger is so unpredictable.
